The new SEAT Leon Estate has been named one of the UK’s best cars for towing at the Caravan and Motorhome Club Towcar of the Year Awards.
The SEAT Leon Estate FR 1.5 TSI 150PS manual won the Caravan Weight 1100-1200kg class, standing out from the pack thanks to its impressive all-round ability and dynamic design.
Starting at just £25,855 OTR, the new Leon Estate FR 1.5 TSI 150PS offers drivers an efficient and punchy engine that boasts 44.1-48.7 mpg (WLTP), a capacious 1301 litres boot with all seats folded, and a long list of standard technology and equipment, making it an appealing yet cost-effective option for caravaners.
With caravan holidays more popular than ever, more than 40 entrants were made into the annual awards. Entrants were evaluated and assessed by an independent panel of expert judges who carried out full technical specification and vehicle towing capability reviews.
Each car’s “Caravanability” was assessed by evaluating boot load spaces (with the rear seats up and down), roof load limits, along with nose weight limits.
SEAT’s small SUV family also earned plaudits in the Awards, with the SEAT Arona SE Technology 1.0 TSI 115PS DSG placing second on the podium in its Caravan Weight under 1100kg class. The SEAT Ateca Xperience Lux 2.0 TDI 150PS DSG 4Drive also came second in the larger Caravan Weight 1300–1400kg class.
