Compressed natural gas (CNG) engines are designed to function both with petroleum-based fuels and with liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), i.e. propane, butane and their mixtures. This combination provides efficient combustion and thus equivalent handling characteristics. Each fuel type has its own individual fuel rail.
If the CNG is used up, the engine automatically switches over to petrol mode. In addition, you can select petrol or CNG mode by means of a switch.
SEAT CNG engines are more durable and reliable than retrofitted engines and naturally fall under the SEAT warranty. The gas tank, located in the spare wheel well, has repeatedly been tested for crash safety. This space-saving solution doesn’t restrict your seat configuration options, interior space or load-carrying volume.
In comparison to petrol engines, CO2 emissions from CNG engines are up to 12% less.
